Baby Sign Language Classes - ONLINE

Wishing you could start baby signing with your child, however unable to make it to our face-to-face classes?

In our classes we teach a combination of KWS (Key Word Sign Australia), AUSLAN (Australian Sign Language) and simple common gestures that have proven to be effective in communication with toddlers.

Language development does not only refer to verbal language. Children often reach a number of different milestones when developing communication skills before they speak their first word-eye contact, gestures, singing often emerge prior to spoken language!

Using gestures and symbolic communication usually emerges around 8 to 10 months and you can encourage your child to do this by using Key Word Sign with them at home. Introducing these signs gives young children a concrete way to express themselves before the emergence of verbal language. Australian Sign Language (AUSLAN)  is the formalised language and is what Key Word Sign is derived from.

FOCUS Speech Pathology runs a virtual workshops on Baby Sign Language-KWS over the course of 6 weeks (fortnightly GoogleMeet classes -40mins each). The online class is completed in the evening (around 8pm- hopefully after children have gone to bed) with a maximum of 3 couples.

Additionally we run a 30min refresher course or to update your skills from the initial beginner workshop.

You will be provided with an introduction to Baby Sign and an initial set of signs to use with your baby. As well as interactive videos and countless scenarios to support your communication with your baby.

These workshops are a great activity to do with a few friends or your Mothers' Group!
